Fall has arrived yet again.  That means that it is  time for Open Enrollment for Medicare Part D, the Prescription Drug Plan, and Medicare Advantage plans.  Please take a few minutes to review your current plan to make sure that it is still working for you.  As always, we are here to help you evaluate your options with the Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, and Traditional Medicare and supplement plans.

 

If you missed last year’s enrollment, this is the time to enroll in Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan.  Please see our article in this issue for the steps you will need to take to enroll in a drug plan.

MEDICARE PART D

Open Enrollment for Medicare Part D

 

Open enrollment for Medicare Part D, the prescription drug program, is coming up soon.  The dates for open enrollment are from November 15, 2008 to December 31, 2008.  During open enrollment, you can do the following:

 

¨        Sign up for a Prescription Plan for the first time

             (subject to late enrollment penalty)

 

¨        Change to another Prescription Plan

 

¨        Check to see if your plan’s formulary has changed

             (many plans are making changes to their current plans)

 

 

We can help you with any of the above choices.

 

If you would like us to help you in selecting or evaluating your prescription plan, please send us a current printout from your pharmacy.  If you want to change plans, please let us know what is not working with your current plan.

 

If you are signing up for the first time, we will need a current printout from your pharmacy, a copy of your Medicare card, and your date of birth.

 

Medicare is recommending that those enrolling in a prescription plan do so by December 8, 2008 to insure a January 1, 2009 effective date.  To insure that we can get the information back to you by the December 8, 2008 date, please  have your information to our office no later than November 1, 2008.  As always, if you have questions, don’t hesitate to call us.
